PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus in which a height of a top board can be maintained at a desired height when the top board is moved into a cradle, and a movable type bed device for the magnetic resonance imaging apparatus.SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus comprises a bed device 110, a cradle, a detection section and a control section. The bed device 110 has a top board 111 on which a subject is placed and a top board support table supporting the top board 111. The cradle has a static magnetic field magnet 101. The detection section detects the height of at least either the top board 111 or the top board support table.
