The present invention provides a collagen biofabric comprising a dehydrated, decellularized and substrate-free amniotic membrane, wherein said amniotic membrane has a native tertiary and quaternary structure. Further, provided is a collagen biofabric from a placenta having an amniotic membrane and a chorionic membrane, wherein the collagen biofabric is prepared by a method comprising: (a) separating the amniotic membrane from the chorionic membrane; and (b) decellularizing the amniotic membrane so that the amniotic membrane is not contacted with an enzyme. The present invention also provides a three-dimensional scaffold comprising the collagen biofabric of the present invention, preferably wherein the three-dimensional scaffold is a tube, a sheet, a fiber, or a microsphere.
