A trigger wire release mechanism is disclosed that includes a control memberforselectively releasing a trigger wire from a prosthesis retaining device. Thecontrolmember includes an elongate body member and a guide member slidablydisposed on the elongate body member. The trigger wire 1 includes a distal endcoupled to the prosthesis retaining device and a proximal end coupled to theguidemember. The guide member can be moved from a distal end of the elongate bodyto a proximal end of the elongate body, thereby disengaging the trigger wirefromthe retaining device. The control member may include a locking mechanism forlimiting the axial position of the guide member along the elongate bodymember.A prosthesis control member is also disclosed. The prosthesis control memberisadapted to control the position of the prosthesis during deployment.
