PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article excellent in erection of gathers and excellent in a side leakage preventing effect.
SOLUTION: The absorbent article has a longitudinally elongated shape including an elongated body having a surface layer with a surface sheet, a backside layer with a backside layer, and an absorbent layer with a liquid retentive absorbent body disposed between those layers and leakproof gathers which are formed separate from each other on both end parts in the longitudinal direction on the body to have a hollow part by a sheet shape member. Each of the pairs of the leakproof gathers has a stereoscopic shape part to be projecting to the skin abutting face side of the absorbent article. The stereoscopic shape part is formed so as to constitute the hollow part. The leakproof gathers are formed so that cross section shapes of the center part in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent article and the front part and/or the rear part are different, and the height at the center part is higher than that of the front part and/or the rear part.
