Disclosed are a mobile terminal and a method of controlling same. A mobile terminal according to an embodiment of the present invention, together with an external device separated therefrom, may measure body composition by using human body medium communication. The mobile terminal and the external device have two electrodes that contact areas of a users body. The mobile terminal outputs a test signal through a first body area contacting a first electrode, and transmits the test signal to the external device through the users body. The external device generates a feedback signal corresponding to the test signal. The mobile terminal detects a second signal which is the feedback signal that passes through the body and is transmitted through a second electrode. The mobile terminal uses the difference between a reference signal corresponding to the test signal and the second signal to calculate the body composition of the user.Linvention concerne un terminal mobile et son procédé de commande. Un terminal mobile selon un mode de réalisation de la présente invention peut mesurer, conjointement avec un dispositif externe séparé de celui-ci, une composition corporelle via une communication à travers le corps humain. Le terminal mobile et le dispositif externe comprennent deux électrodes qui sont en contact avec des zones du corps dun utilisateur.
