Aspine that may be used in the electrode assembly of an electrophysiologiccatheter having controlled flexibility. The spine may have a flexible corethat extendsthrough a length of the spine, a polymeric cover and a plurality ofelectrodes, eachhaving at least one lead, distributed longitudinally along the spine. Anamount ofmaterial forming the spine may be adjusted longitudinally along the spine tocompensate for changes in flexibility to the spine caused by varying numbersofelectrode leads present at different relative longitudinal positions along thespine.
