An apparatus for testing bones comprises of a frame for mounting the apparatus, a fluid reservoir unit to store and supply at least one fluid, a fluid regulation unit to regulate a flow of the at least one fluid, a hydraulic cylinder along with a movable piston and bone mounts. A method for testing bones comprises of mounting a bone between the bone mounts, initiating a flow of the at least one fluid from the fluid reservoir unit towards the hydraulic cylinder to drive the movable piston creating a relative motion between the bone mounts. A loading speed of the movable piston being regulated by the fluid regulating unit, A pressure gauge mounted on the fluid regulating unit measures pressure applied on the bone which is further used to measure bone properties.
