Disclosed herein is an antimicrobial and wound-healing pharmaceutical composition which comprises fosfomycin and a finely dispersed nanostructured silica dioxide, wherein the composition is formulated for external administration, and wherein the fosfomicin and the finely dispersed nanostructured silica dioxide are present in a weight ratio of (25-75) : (75-25), wherein the size of finely dispersed nanostructured silica dioxide particles is equal to or less than 5 microns and is present in an amount not less than 40% of the total weight of the composition.
