A method, system and computer product for simultaneously activating at leasttwo electrodes in a multichannelelectrode array is presented. The method includes calculating pulse amplitudesof the electrodes in the multichannel array by taking intoaccount parameters of spatial channel interaction reflecting geometricoverlapping of electrical fields from each electrode. Calculatingis based, at least in part, on place- independent impulse responsescharacterized by a first exponential decay constant .alpha. at a firstside of the electrode and a second exponential decay constant .beta. at asecond side of the electrode, such that the first exponential decayconstant .alpha. is the same for each electrode in the array, and the secondexponential decay constant .beta. is the same for each electrode inthe array.
