Normally polymer is dissolved in aqueous or non-aqueous solvent based on its solubility for the application of coating to a solid dosage form. Natural excipients are preffered over synthetically processed because of better patient benefit, cost effectiveness, less processing steps and environmental friendly. Therefore in present invention, Lepidium sativum is used as a coating material to the tablet. Accordingly in present invention, mucilage obtained from the Lepidium sativum seeds is used effectively for coating of solid dosage forms as it has good film forming property, nutritionally rich supplements, and safe, bio- compatible and bio-degradable dietary fiber.
