Die Erfindung betrifft ein verbessertes Verfahren zur Herstellung von in wässrigem Medium löslichen Polymeren auf Methacrylat-Basis, die sich vor allem als assoziative und nichtassoziative Verdicker einsetzen lassen.Producing polymerizate comprises polymerizing monomers of a polymer A or B partially or virtually completely, and adding the monomers of respective other polymer, subsequently polymerizing the monomers of respective other polymer and the partially polymerized polymer A or B, or polymerizing the virtually completely polymerized polymer A or B, with the formation of a mixture of polymer A and polymer B. The polymerizate includes mixture of polymer A including e.g. alkyl-methacrylate, methacrylic acid, and polymer B including e.g. a monomer carrying an amide group and optionally other monomers. Producing polymerizate comprises polymerizing monomers of a polymer A or B partially or virtually completely, and adding the monomers of respective other polymer, subsequently polymerizing the monomers of respective other polymer and the partially polymerized polymer A or B, or polymerizing the virtually completely polymerized polymer A or B, with the formation of a mixture of polymer A and polymer B. The polymerizate includes the mixture of at least one polymer A and at least one polymer B, where (A) polymer A comprises (in wt.%): (a1) alkyl-methacrylate having 1-4C (30-70), (a2) methacrylic acid (30-70), (a3) monomers substituted with 8-30C (0 -20), (a4) monomers more different from (a1) to (a3) (0 -20), and (B) polymer B comprises (in wt.%): (b1) at least one monomer carrying at least one amide group, and (b2) optionally other monomers different from the (b1), where the components of the polymers A and B are present in a copolymerized form. and (B) Polymer B comprises in copolymerized form.
