PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical laminate that can be an image display device preventing the occurrence of a deterioration in visibility and a change in hue of display images and having excellent display quality.SOLUTION: An optical laminate has at least a light transmissive base material having birefringence in the plane, a λ/4 retardation film, and a polarizer laminated in this order from an observer side, where the light transmissive base material and the λ/4 retardation film are arranged so that the angle formed by the slow axis of the light transmissive base material and the slow axis of the λ/4 retardation film does not become 45° or 135°.
