Disclosed is a method of supporting a catheter and guidewire or delivering a radiopaque diagnostic or therapeutic agent through a vascular stenosis or other serpentine anatomy. The catheter may have an elongate shaft body and a tip member provided at the distal end of the shaft body. The shaft body may extend from the proximal end to the distal end and may include an inner lumen. The shaft body may include a liner, a braided member surrounding the liner, a multilayer coil surrounding the braided member, and a polymer cover surrounding the multilayer coil. The outer surface portion of the polymer cover may have one or more helical threads, and such helical threads may be wrapped with an outer wrap. The tip member may be made of metal or polymer.
