PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for delivering an exogenous coenzyme or a metabolite thereof in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier to induce apoptosis in a cancer cell.SOLUTION: The present invention provides, but not limited to, a method for inducing apoptosis in cancer cells by bringing the cells into contact with endogenous coenzyme Q10 or a metabolite thereof in addition to mevalonic acid and oleic acid to form an intracellular complex. The present invention also provides a method for modulating a p53 pathway and a Bcl-2 protein family in a manner that restores the apoptotic potential to a cancer cell by delivery of Coenzyme Q10 in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
