Provided are dental cleaning compositions,methods of using and methods of using such compositionswhich minimize gum damage in the oral cavity. In oneform, the dental cleaning composition includes asubstantially stoichiometric ratio of one or moreoxidizing agents to one or more reducing agents in one ormore one or more orally acceptable carriers； where thesubstantially stoichiometric ratio of one or moreoxidizing agents to one or more reducing agents issufficient to neutralize the oxidizing agent in a subjectoral cavity； and where the one or more oxidizing agentsand one or more reducing agents are either co-dispensed orsequentially dispensed in the subject oral cavity.
