The present invention relates to a system for treating fecal incontinence, the system comprising: a plug (10) including an anchoring element (14) attached to a biasing element (21) via an elastically stretchable stem portion (12) having an internal bore and an applicator (100) including a rod which is removably insertable in said internal bore of said elastically stretchable stem portion, wherein an insertion force applied through said applicator stretches said elastically stretchable stem portion on said rod when said plug is delivered through an anal canal via said applicator.
