This invention provides an absorbent structure having a high absorption efficiency assured by shaping the structure to have uneven thickness and having generally equal stiffness as a whole, and an absorbent wearing article using this absorbent structure. An absorbent structure (17) includes a first region (51), a second region (52) and a central region (53) extending between the first and second regions (51, 52), the first region (51) and part of the central region (53) are formed with a thick segment (55). The second region (52) is formed with a thin segment (57) having a thickness dimension smaller than that of the thick segment (55). Between the thick segment (55) and the thin segment (57), a thickness-sloped segment (56) having a thickness dimension gradually reduced from the side of the first region (51) toward the second region (52) and the thin segment (57) and at least a region of the thickness-sloped segment (56) being adjacent to the thin segment (57) are debossed.
