<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glucoside of a carboxylic acid; and to provide a method for glucosylating the carboxylic acid. <;P>;SOLUTION: The method for glucosylating the carboxylic acid involves a step for obtaining the glucoside of the carboxylic acid by the action of a sucrose phosphorylase in an aqueous solution on the carboxylic acid and a glucose donor. The pH of the aqueous solution at the start of the action is at the acidic side from the optimum pH at the reaction for binding glucose with hydroquinone by the sucrose phosphorylase. The glucoside of the carboxylic acid is obtained by binding the carboxy group of the carboxylic acid with an OH group at the 1-, 2-, 3- or 4-position of the glucose, and the glucoside which is not a compound having the carboxylic acid β-bonded to the 1-position is also provided. <;P>;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
