Polynucleotides encoding the hepatitis B virus (HBV) core antigen and polymerase antigen and related combinations are described. Also described are vectors expressing the HBV core and polymerase antigen, such as a DNA plasmid or viral vector, and an immunogenic composition comprising the expression vector.
