SOLUTION: For an iron-polyphenol composite material, (A) Iron component 0.1 to 20% by mass, (B) A deodorant containing a polyphenol component of 0.1 to 20% by mass, or A deodorant in which the composite material is a composition obtained by reacting (a) an iron component and (b) a polyphenol component. A deodorizing method for deodorizing malodorous components, which comprises contacting the deodorant with a gas, adding or contacting it with a liquid, or adding it to a solid or powder.
