PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forceps which includes an electrode assembly having pre-heated electrodes, allowing a user to selectively seal and/or incise tissue.SOLUTION: This electrode assembly having a pair of counter first and second jaw members is provided. At least one of the jaw members can be moved toward the other jaw member from the first position to the second position, and each jaw member includes at least one electrically conductive tissue sealing surface extending along a length thereof, each tissue sealing surface is adapted to connect to a source of electrosurgical energy such that at least one of the tissue sealing surfaces are capable of conducting electrosurgical energy through tissue held therebetween to effect a seal. The assembly includes at least one heating element disposed within at least one of the jaw members.
