PURPOSE: An antibacterial composition prepared using plants is provided to have superior antibacterial activity with safety and fewer side effects, and to be used in pharmaceutical products, cleaning agents, or cosmetic materials. CONSTITUTION: An antibacterial pharmaceutical composition contains one or more plant extracts or fractions thereof. The plant extracts are prepared using plants selected from the group consisting of Kalimeris yomena Kitam, Agrimonia pilosa L., rhein, Nardostachys chinensis Batalin, Hydnocarpi semen, Desmodium caudatum, and Kochiae fructus. The composition further contains a common antibacterial agent. The antibacterial agent is selected from the group consisting of penicillins, quinolones, tetracyclines, cephalosporins, and macrolides.본 발명은 쑥부쟁이, 용아초, 레인, 감송향, 대풍자, 된장풀 및 지부자로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 어느 하나 이상의 식물 추출물 또는 이의 분획물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 항균용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 식물을 사용하여 제조한 항균용 조성물은 메티실린 감수성 황색포도상구균 뿐 아니라 메티실린 내성 황색포도상구균에도 항균 활성을 나타내며, 특히 통상의 항균제를 더 포함하는 경우 시너지 효과를 나타내기 때문에 그 효용 가치는 매우 크다고 할 것이다. 즉, 적은 양의 항균제를 사용하더라도 기존의 항균제에 비하여 동등 이상의 항균 활성을 나타낼 수 있어 항균제의 남용으로 인해 생기는 부작용 발생 위험이 낮고, 경제적이며 효율적이다. 이외에도 우리나라에서 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있는 식물들을 사용하기 때문에 이들의 자원화 및 고부가가치 제품화를 모색할 수 있다.
