An absorbent composite material comprising an intimate mixture of: a) network- forming cellulose fibrils having a diameter of from 1 nm to 100 μm, b) a hydrophilic absorbent polymer component bonded to the cellulose fibrils and c) a water soluble polymer component. The hydrophilic absorbent polymer component remains bonded to the cellulose fibrils when the absorbent composite material is wet and in that water soluble polymer component is solubilized when the absorbent composite material is wet, the water soluble polymer component being a compound having the capability of increasing the viscosity of the aqueous portion of body fluids such as menses and runny feces.La présente invention concerne un matériau composite absorbant comportant un mélange intime: a) de fibrilles de cellulose formant réseau ayant un diamètre compris entre 1nm et 100nm, b) dun composant polymère absorbant hydrophile lié aux fibrilles de cellulose et c) dun composant polymère hydrosoluble. Linvention est caractérisé en ce que le composant polymère absorbant hydrophile reste lié aux fibrilles de cellulose lorsque le matériau composite est humide et le composant polymère hydrosoluble est solubilisé lorsque le matériau composite absorbant est humide, le composant polymère étant un composé ayant la capacité daccroître la viscosité de la partie aqueuse des liquides organiques tels que les règles et les selles liquides.
