The present invention relates to an anticancer composition or a food composition for preventing or ameliorating cancer, containing two or more compounds selected from the group consisting of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, metformin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and citric acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as active ingredients, a method for preventing or treating cancer by administering the anticancer composition to an individual, and a use of the two or more compounds.
