Exemplary embodiments are directed towards a mechanical system and method for performing a chest compression task. The system includes a base platform fixed at a top to maintain a position for applying a compression force, an end effector positioned in parallel to the base platform for providing a translational degree of motion for receiving the compression force from the base platform to interact with a human chest, a plurality of arms extended below towards from a plurality of edges of the base platform to a plurality of edges of the end-effector are extensible at a central post for transferring the compression force and a plurality of actuators mounted over a plurality of edges of the base platform configured to change location of the plurality of arms without modifying the angle of the base platform.
