The present invention relates to genes participating in the extracellular transport of p-coumaryl alcohol from monolignol, which is an important component of lignin, and to a transgenic plant produced using the genes, and more particularly, to a composition including a gene which mostly participates in the extracellular transport of p-coumaryl alcohol and affects the lignin content of a plant, to a recombinant vector including the gene and to a transgenic plant using the recombinant vector in order to have an increased lignin content, and to a recombinant vector which lowers the expression of the gene and to a transgenic plant produced using the recombinant vector. Since the composition, the recombinant vector, and the transgenic plant of the present invention affect the transport of monolignol itself and change the content of lignin in plants, transgenic plants effectively having an increased or decreased lignin content can be produced.
