Provided is a method suited to the mass production of feed or food of an encapsulated type having a double structure of an outer layer and an inner layer. The method for producing feed or food resulting from encapsulating an inner layer by means of a gelled outer layer composition is characterized by preparing an outer layer composition starting material resulting from stirring/mixing after adding an auxiliary starting material to a starch starting material and/or a protein starting material that forms a gel by means of heating, and an inner layer composition to be encapsulated by the outer layer composition, using an extruder provided with a double nozzle to apply heat treatment to gel the outer layer composition starting material and at the same time to extrusion mold the result in a manner so as to cover the outer surface of the inner layer composition, and using a shutter mechanism to cut the continuously extruded cylindrical molded object into fixed lengths and simultaneously to encapsulate the cut surfaces by means of the gelled outer layer composition.
