A system, method and computer program product for estimating future axialelongation of an individual's eye as a way to predict and track refractiveerrorprogression of an individual. The method includes: receiving, via a computerinterface, data relating to refractive change in a prior pre-determined timeperiod forthe individual from a reference timepoint; receiving data representing an ageof theindividual and data representing a current axial length value of the eye asmeasuredat the reference timepoint; calculating, by said processor, a future axialelongation ofthe eye as a function of the age of the individual, the current axial lengthvalue of theeye as measured at the reference timepoint, and the refractive change in thepriorpre-determined time period; generating, an output indication of said computedaxialelongation of the eye, and using said output indication to select a myopiacontroltreatment for said individual.
