PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus and the like, which maintains a region of interest at a proper luminance level.SOLUTION: The endoscope apparatus includes an image acquisition unit, a region of interest setting unit 413, and a dimming control unit 416. The image acquisition unit acquires a captured image including a subject image obtained by irradiating a subject with illumination light from a light source unit. The region of interest setting unit 413 sets the region of interest for the captured image. The dimming control unit 416 controls the light quantity of illumination light on the basis of the set region of interest.
