The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling an (intensive pulse light) IPL device, which comprises: a user input unit allowing a practitioner to manually set at least one IPL item set value related to characteristics of light to be irradiated through a light source unit of the IPL device a control unit controlling the light source unit through a driving unit depending on the IPL item set value of a voltage, a current, an on time, an off time, and a light irradiation count (count) set through the user input unit and an LED driven through the driving unit to illuminate the IPL operation light corresponding to the IPL set value.
