THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A SURGICAL APPARATUS (100) THAT SEEKS TO PROVIDE IMPROVED MOBILITY LN THE POSITIONING OF A SURGICAL GUIDE BLOCK (40) TO THUS TACILITATE THE FEMORAL OR TIBIAL RESECTION AT RESECTION PLANES THAT COINCIDE WITH IDEAL RESECTION PLANES.THE SURGICAL APPARATUS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION CAN BE USED IN EITHER TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY OR PARTIAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY AND COMPRISES OF A BASE MEMBER (10), A FLEXURAL ARM ASSEMBLY (20) THAT INCLUDES TWO IDENTICAL ARM MEMBERS (23) PIVOTED ABOUT A SHARED ROTATION AXIS THAT IS PERPENDICULAR TO THE PLANE DEFINES THE RANGE OF ANGULAR MOVEMENT OF THE ARM MEMBERS (23), A SURGICAL GUIDE BLOCK CONNECTOR MEMBER (30) THAT IS ADAPTED TO MATE WITH EITHER ONE OF THE ARM MEMBERS (23) OF THE FLEXURAL ARM ASSEMBLY (20) AT ONE END AND IS ADAPTED TO RECEIVE A SURGICAL GUIDE BLOCK (40) AT THE OTHER END, A SURGICAL GUIDE BLOCK (40) THAT IS ADAPTED TO INTERCONNECT WITH THE SURGICAL GUIDE BLOCK CONNECTOR MEMBER (30), AND A TRACKER MEMBER (50) THAT IS ADAPTED TO BE MOUNTED ON THE DISTAL END OF THE SURGICAL GUIDE BLOCK (40). THE MOBILITY IN THE POSITIONING OF THE SURGICAL GUIDE BLOCK (40) IS ACHIEVED DUE TO THE COMBINATION OF THE TWO, THREE DEGREE OF FREEDOM JOINTS BETWEEN THE LOWER ARM MEMBERS (23B) AND THE UPPER ARM MEMBERS (23A) AND THE ONE DEGREE OF FREEDOM JOINT BETWEEN UPPER ARM MEMBERS (23A) OF THE FLEXURAL ARM ASSEMBLY (20).
