The width of the area may be, for example, about 1 mm or 0.5 mm or less, and the distance between the freezing areas may be about three times greater than the width of the area. An exemplary apparatus may be provided comprising a plurality of spatially separated thermally conductive devices secured or coupled to a base. For example, the conductive device may be a conductive material region provided in or near the thermal insulator or may be a thermally conductive protrusion secured to the base.
