Method for soil steam sterilisation providing the following steps； working the soil with a spading or tilling roller which is rotated about its own axis and contemporaneously moving the spading roller forward by a translation in a direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation； contemporaneously supplying steam in the soil, with a predetermined pressure and with a predetermined temperature, in the soil area being worked by the spading roller or immediately adjacent to said spading the spading roller being rotated about its own axis in a direction differing from the forward movement direction, that is in such a rotational direction that in the area in contact with the soil the direction of the spades is opposite to the forward movement direction. The invention further relates to a device for soil steam sterilisation working according to the method described above.
