PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide titanic acid compound powder useful as a pigment of a cosmetic or the like and the cosmetic.SOLUTION: The titanic acid compound powder has an anatase type crystal shape which consists of a chain of four edge-sharing TiO6 octahedrons and in which one or more metal ions selected from Li, Mg, Zn, Ni, Cu, Fe and Al are substituted for a part of Ti sites. The titanic acid compound powder consists of flat particles having 1-30 &mum average particle size and 0.05-3 &mum average thickness.
