The cleaning device (30) has a blower (42), which is driven by an external power operated motor (60) for impacting a sieve (40) with an air current. A controller is provided, to which signals are supplied corresponding to the material flow rate of the sieve. The controller is operated to change the speed of the motor corresponding to the signals and to control an actuator (50,52) for adjusting the opening width of the sieve. The signals are related to the power consumption of the motor. The controller is connected with a sensor for detecting the speed of motor or opening width of the sieve.
