In these methods and systems, DNA comprising a gene that produces a PglL-like oligosaccharyltransferase and DNA comprising a gene that produces a protein to be O-glycosylated are used. The PglL-like oligosaccharyltransferase facilitates the covalent attachment of the glycan to the protein to produce the 0glycosylated protein. The methods and systems described herein provide an approach for the design and production of new vaccines and therapeutic agents for the treatment of various diseases.WO 2008/093165 PCT/IB2007/004486 1/8 A GalNAc&+ GaINAc,- + GalNAc- * GalNAc + GatNAc Bac 1,4 1,4 L,4 1,4 1,3 : C. jejuni N-gbycan GIG B N. meningitidis Gal(31-4)Gal(al-3)DATDH C D-Vilo.NAc- + D-Man D-D-GcNAc E. coll 07 L-Rha D P. aeruginosa 011 [P-D-Glc-(1-2)--p-D-FucNAc-(1-3)-a-L-FucNAcE S. enterica LT2 D-Man y L-Rha a D-Gal S .1,4 1,3 D-Abe FIGURE 1
