A process for making turmeric powder comprising the steps of: cleaning turmeric rhizomes with running water boiling said turmeric rhizomes for 20 minutes in water at 100°C draining said turmeric rhizomes for 30 minutes using a strainer peeling said the boiled turmeric rhizomes using a knife slicing said peeled turmeric rhizomes thinly in crosswise cut arranging said sliced turmeric are in trays oven drying said sliced turmeric for 1 hour at 100-120°C cooling said oven dried turmeric at room temperature pulverizing said oven dried turmeric using a pulverizer to produce a turmeric powder and packing said turmeric powder in a glass jar.
