A method for projecting a 3D surface geometry onto a planar projection comprises: obtaining a 3D geometry of a chamber surface using an algorithm that generates angles and distances between points on the chamber surface that represent mapping information； applying a cutting curve to at least two points on the chamber surface； and at least partially unfolding at least a portion of the chamber surface along the cutting curve to form a planar projection that optimally preserves the angles and distances between points on the chamber surface.La présente invention se rapporte à un procédé permettant de projeter une géométrie de surface en 3D sur une projection plane (52), ledit procédé consistant à : obtenir une géométrie en 3D (50) d'une surface de chambre (51) à l'aide d'un algorithme qui génère des angles et des distances entre des points sur la surface de chambre (51) qui représentent des informations de cartographie； à appliquer une courbe de coupe (86) à au moins deux points sur la surface de chambre (51)； et à déplier au moins partiellement au moins une partie de la surface de chambre (51) le long de la courbe de coupe (86) afin de former une projection plane (52) qui préserve de façon optimale les angles et les distances entre les points se trouvent sur la surface de chambre (52).
