The stem (1) has a support unit (2) intended to bear against the cut end of the cortex of a femur, so as to limit its axial penetration in the femur. The support unit extends radially from an inner face (5), a front face (6), and a rear face of the femoral stem, where the support unit includes interruptions (8) on the front and rear faces of the femoral stem.
