The invention relates to an optical waveguide system with an LED (light-emitting diode), consisting of a semiconductor chip (1) which emits light upon contact with a direct current and which is mechanically and electrically connected to a flat chip carrier (2) that has two electric contacts (21). A hollow body (3) is fixed on the chip carrier (2). The inner surface (31) of said hollow body reflects light, and the hollow body has two openings. The first opening, the fixing opening, surrounds the chip, and light exits through the second opening, the light opening, with an emission angle that is smaller than the emission angle of the LED. The hollow body is approximately rotationally symmetrical.
