<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion generating unit and an illuminating apparatus which improve diffusibility of ions. <；P>；SOLUTION: The ion generating unit comprises a box-like case 40 having an opening on one face, a box-like main base 30 housed within the case 40 and having an opening on one face, a suction grille 20 arranged on the top face (the front face) of the main base 30, a front panel 10 arranged on the top face (the front face) of the suction grille 20 and acting as an air guiding plate, or the like. The front panel 10 of the ion generating unit has an air suction hole 15 in the center. Air blowing holes 11-14 are arranged on the same face as the air suction hole 15 to surround the air suction hole 15.
