The protector has an arm that can pivot around an axle of pivoting, and a lid. The pivoting axle part is provided to the wide diameter part, and the lid is formed to give a width smaller than a diameter of the wide diameter part. The arm keeps the lid in the open position away from the pivoting axle part and closer to an axis of the needle hub.
