Compositions and methods for promoting epithelial tissue regeneration to treat an oral or oropharyngeal wound, e.g., after tonsillectomy are disclosed. In particular, the invention relates to compositions comprising heparin binding epidermal growth factor like growth factor and their use in the treatment of an oral or oropharyngeal wound, e.g., post-therapy treatment to promote epithelial tissue regeneration in wounds, e.g., wounds resulting from surgical removal of tonsil tissue during tonsillectomy procedures, such as palatal, pharyngeal or lingual tonsillectomy. Additionally, HB-EGF can also be used after an adenoidectomy, a procedure sometimes combined with a tonsillectomy, to promote healing of wounds caused by surgical removal of adenoid tissue.La présente invention concerne des compositions et des procédés pour favoriser la régénération tissulaire épithéliale après une amygdalectomie. En particulier, l'invention concerne des compositions comprenant le facteur de croissance mimétique du facteur de croissance épidermique se liant à l'héparine et leur utilisation dans le traitement postopératoire pour stimuler la régénération de tissu épithélial dans des plaies résultant de l'ablation chirurgicale de tissu d'amygdales pendant des procédures d'amygdalectomie, telles qu'une amygdalectomie palatine, pharyngée ou linguale. De plus, HB-EGF peut également être utilisé après une procédure, une adénoïdectomie, une procédure parfois combinée avec une amygdalectomie, pour stimuler la cicatrisation de plaies causées par l'ablation chirurgicale de tissu adénoïde.
