The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for producing calcium carbonate blocks applicable as a raw material for artificial bone required to have biological safety, wherein the calcium carbonate blocks each have a diameter of 0.1 cm or more and a thickness of 0.1 cm or more and are free from impurities. The method comprises (a) a calcium hydroxide block forming step, (b) a carbon dioxide contact step, and (c) a carbonate ion-containing aqueous solution immersion step.
