The purpose of the present invention is to provide an absorbent article which is obtained by coating a surface sheet with a gel-like composition, and which exhibits excellent surface dryness, excellent liquid permeability in the thickness direction, and excellent absorbency, while maintaining the joined state between the surface sheet and a core wrapping sheet. This absorbent article (1) is provided with: an absorbent body (4) including an absorbent core (41), and a core wrapping sheet (42) surrounding the absorbent core (41) and a surface sheet (2) which is provided to the skin-surface side of the absorbent body (4), and which is joined with the core wrapping sheet (42) by an adhesive agent. The skin-surface-side surface of the surface sheet (2) is intermittently coated with a hydrophobic gel-like composition capable of maintaining a gel state at 38oC.
