The process involves detecting a parameter deviation over a verification interval with a time limitation of limited duration in time. Length of the time limitation of the verification interval is determined as a function of extent of the deviation of parameter from a preset value or value range. Two threshold value ranges are set, and a value of a counter (7) is decremented when a parameter drops to a value below a threshold value relevant to the counter for the length of a unit of time and the value of the counter is greater than zero. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an alarm generating device comprising a detecting unit (2) a treatment device comprising a data input (3) a digital storage medium system comprising a programmable computer system (4) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for generating an alarm.
