A method of treating seborrhea in a patient, which involves the use in relation to the patient an effective amount of (24RS) -scimnol, its ester or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the specified ester. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the racemic (24RS, 25RS) sodium scimnolsulfate is used in relation to the patient. A method according to claim 1 or 2, providing that the application is carried out locally, dermally or transdermally. A composition for use in the treatment of seborrhea in a patient, which contains an effective amount of (24RS) -scimnol, its ester or pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said ester together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent. 5. A composition according to claim 4, which contains sodium racemic (24RS, 25RS) -scimnolsulfate. A composition according to claim 4 or 5, which is a composition for topical, cutaneous or transdermal use. The use of (24RS) -scimnol, its ester or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said ester in the manufacture of a medicament for use in the treatment of seborrhea in a patient. 8. The use of claim 7, wherein the racemic (24RS, 25RS) sodium scimnolsulfate is used. The use of claim 7 or 8, wherein the medicament is a composition for topical, dermal or transdermal use.
