The invention relates to a cultivation and sampling method for plants grown in a multi-section sampling device, said sampling device comprising an upper section (4) with an upper section identifier and a number of cultivation containers (4.1), and a lower section (2) with a lower section identifier and an equal number of sample containers (2.1). When the sampling device is in an assembled position, the upper section (4) is connected to said lower section (2) such that the sample containers (2.1) are arranged to correspond to the cultivation containers (4.1), being underneath them. The method comprises the following steps: in a cultivation phase, the plants are grown in the cultivation containers (4.1), which are filled with a substrate and/or nutrients, in the upper section (4) of the sampling device; once the roots of the plants have grown through a base opening that is provided in each cultivation container (4.1), into the sample containers (2.1) provided below, the root parts in said lower section (2) are removed from the rest of the plants using a cutter (6); in an analysis phase, the lower section (2) of the sampling device, with the root parts inside, is conducted to an analysis device, a phenotypic description and/or a molecular biological examination being carried out for the different root parts, and; in a selection phase, the upper section (4) of the sampling device, with the living remainder of the plants inside, is conducted to a selection device and positioned.
