The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or alleviating obesity including an Amomum villosum extract as an active ingredient.The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or alleviating obesity, wherein the Amomum villosum extract is obtained through extraction with water and is included in a dose of 100 mg/kg to 500 mg/kg based on oral administration to a mouse.The present invention provides a composition for preventing or alleviating obesity including an Amomum villosum extract having anti-obesity efficacy, wherein the Amomum villosum extract inhibits an increase in adipocytes in the liver, limits the size of adipocytes, inhibits the production of triglycerides, and inhibits mRNA expression in vivo.
