A device for removing a dental covering comprising: (a) an engagement portionthat isconfigured to contact a portion of the dental covering along only one of afacial side or a lingualside of the dental covering and receive a prying load applied by an operator；and (b) a loadapplying portion connected to the engagement portion which is adapted to restupon an adjacentsurface relative to the dental covering and be pivoted upwardly or downwardlyby application ofthe prying load. The device may be a dental covering removal tool which mayfind particularuse in removing dental coverings, such as temporary and permanent crowns.
